Orleans opened a few weeks ago in Britomart and has already made a splash on the hospitality scene. As a huge fan of jazz and live blues, the Canadian and I headed out on a stormy Tuesday night to investigate.
Orleans was a little warm haven in some of the worst weather Auckland’s had for a while. We settled into comfy leather booths with our drinks just as the band finished setting up. The dark walls showed off large framed photos of old jazz bands and decorated with tidbits from America’s past. We felt like we weren’t in Auckland anymore, save for the staff and their kiwi accents.
The musicians were so talented, just amazing! I’m still trying to find them online to post on here – you must have a listen! The cocktail list was creative and the wine list had some excellent choices on it – I left my choice up to the Canadian; sometimes surprises are good…
Overall, possibly the coolest new bar in Auckland and an adorable place for a casual Tuesday date. I think we will definitely be back here and soon!
